 Chapter # 1: Rent for Water

1. arguing : ਬਹਿਸ : The two brothers started arguing in the street.
2. bowing : ਸਿਰ ਝੁਕਾਉਣਾ : He is bowing his head in shame.
3. draw: ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢਣਾ - Let me draw water for bath.
4. dishonesty : ਬੇਈਮਾਨੀ - I can't bear dishonesty. 
5. immediately : ਤੁਰੰਤ - He went there immediately. 
6. interesting :  ਦਿਲਚਸਪ- This story is very interesting. 
7. justice : ਨਿਆਂ - Justice delayed is justice denied.

3. mail : ਡਾਕ - Post this mail soon.
4. freight : ਇੱਕ ਮਾਲ ਗੱਡੀ - I saw a freight train yesterday. 
5. dusk : ਸ਼ਾਮ - Hemant worked from dawn to dusk.
6. dawn : ਸਵੇਰ - Harman worked from dawn to dusk.
7. without : ਬਿਨਾਂ- I can not go in the dark without my parents. 
8. fail:  ਅਸਫ਼ਲ - I fail to see the difference. 

Chapter # 3 : Birbal's Khichdi

1. glowing : ਚਮਕਦਾਰ - The baby has a glowing face.
2. starving : ਭੁੱਖੇ ਮਰਨਾ - Starving people are looking for food.
3. frozen : ਜੰਮੇ ਹੋਏ - These peas are frozen.
4. extreme: ਅਤਿ / ਸ਼ਿਖਰ- He is extremely happy. 
5. deserve : ਹੱਕਦਾਰ : You deserve to be happy.
6. consider : ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰੋ : He was considered for the job.
7. warmth : ਨਿੱਘ - The warmth of goodness makes us happy.
8. brahmin : ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ - He is a brahmin by caste.
