Chapter # 1 : Rent for Water


1. Why did the farmer buy the well?

Ans. He bought the well so that he could water his fields.

2. Who did he buy it from?

Ans. He bought it from his neighbour.

3. What was the argument between the farmer and his neighbour about? 

Ans. The neighbour forbade the farmer to draw water from the well as he had sold the well, not its water.

4. Where did they go to solve the issue?

Ans. They went to King Krishna Dev Rai.

5. What did the king do to solve their case?

Ans. He asked Tenali Rama to solve it. Tenali was the wisest minister of his court.

6. How did Tenali Raman solve the case?

Ans. He said that the neighbour should either pay two gold coins as rent to the farmer for keeping the water in the well or take out its water immediately. 


Chapter # 2 : Poem - Trains

1. What places do the trains go to?

Ans. The trains go over the mountains, plains and rivers.

2. What do they carry?

Ans. They carry passengers and mail.

3. Why does the poet call passengers and mail as 'precious loads'?

Ans. The passengers and mail are precious loads because the human beings as well as their belongings are important and valuable.

4. At what time do the trains run?

Ans. The trains run through dawn and dusk.

5. What are freight cars?

Ans. Freight cars mean trains here. 


Chapter # 3 : Birbal's Khichdi

1. What time of the year was in the story?

Ans. It was winter time.

2. What happened to the ponds and lakes?

Ans. They all were frozen.

3. What did Akbar want to know?

Ans. Akbar wanted to know if a man could do anything for money.

4. Why did the brahmin accept Akbar's challenge?

Ans. The brahmin was very poor. His family was starving and he needed money. That's why he accepted Akbar's challenge.

5. How much money did Akbar agree to give to the brahmin?

Ans. Akbar agreed to give him 2000 gold coins.
