Value of Money

1. What made the narrator unhappy? 

Ans. The limitations of her own computer against Bell computer made the narrator unhappy .    

2. What was the narrator obsessed with?

Ans. She was obsessed with the new computer. So, she started earning more money by doing many house chores.            

3. What were the two features of the Bell computer that were being advertised on TV?

Ans. a) It had the fastest processor.   

b) It has unbelievably high storage. 

                    

4. What offer did the parents give to the narrator?

Ans. The parents offered her to earn money by doing house chores.            

5. Which things  did the narrator do to complete the chores?

Ans. a) She started getting up early.        

b) She started doing her work quickly. 

6. What happened when the narrator went to the store to order the computer she wanted?

Ans. She found that a new model was coming out soon. It was even faster and had double the storage. She would need another two months of doing chores to be able to afford it.

7. What did she decide against buying the computer she was obsessed with?

Ans. She decided not to buy that computer because she had learned the value of money. She has learnt that the latest technology keep on changing soon.

8. Why did the Bell Centre employee advise the narrator to wait for a few months?

Ans. He advised her to wait for a few days as the new model with double storage was coming out soon.

The Earth Needs You 

1. Who is 'you' in the first line?

Ans. 'You'  is used for the reader.

2. What does the Earth want from human beings?

Ans. Earth wants human beings to change your ways and those change the face of the earth.

3. What difference can you and I make to save the earth?

Ans. To make it pollution-free.

4. What are some single use plastic things that we buy and use?

Ans. Bottles, disposable things, single-use plastic bags, cups, tableware, and take-away food packaging.

5. 'But it is not very clever'. What according to the poet is not very clever?

Ans. Single-use plastic isn't clever. It might be cheap, and can last for a very long time.

6. What happens to the single use plastic after it is thrown? Where does it end up?

Ans. It flows to oceans, rivers and seas, and sometimes it tangles on trees.

7. What harm does it do to the oceans, rivers and trees?

Ans. It pollutes oceans and water,  and tangles in trees to hinder the flow of the wind.

8. Does it stay where you throw it? Why?

Ans. No, it doesn't stay there. It travels around with the wind.

9. What does the poet want you to cut down?

Ans. The poet wants  to cut down the use of single-use plastic as it is harmful for our Earth.

The Aged Mother 

1.What was the cruel announcement made by the despotic leader?

Ans. He announced that all the aged to be put to death in his province.

2. Why was the farmer sorrowful?

Ans. The farmer was sorrowful because he loved his old mother very much and he did not want to leave her.

3. What things did the farmer carry to the top of the mountain?

Ans. He carried some cooked rice and a pot filled with cold water.

4.  What made the mother anxious as they climbed up the mountain?

Ans. There were too many paths. The thought that her son would lose his way during his return made her anxious. 

5. What did the mother drop along the way?

Ans. She dropped twigs along the way.

6. What was the advice given by the farmer's mother for the safe return of her son?

Ans. She advised her son to follow the path dotted with piles of twigs.

7. Where did the farmer hide his mother?

Ans. He hid his mother in a walled closet under their kitchen floor.

8. When did the Governor realise his mistake?

Ans. He realised his mistake when he came to know that real wisdom comes with a growing age. He understood the value of aged ones.
