Describing words are called adjectives. Example- tall boy There can be other describing words such as-fat,short, etc. Adjectives can be used to compare the qualities in a person animal or thing. Examples : 1. Harry is a tall boy. 2. Vishal is taller than Harish. 3. Vicky is the tallest. In the sentences above, there is a comparison of the quality i.e. tall. In English grammar, it is called degrees of comparison. It means that two or more people or things are compared for having a quality and to assess who has more of that quality.
